Gambling houses thrive on their energetic environment and the captivating games that are played within, but not all these games are profit making. Low profit margin games such as keno and single deck blackjack normally do not provide more revenues to the casinos. Yet these types of games play a significant role because they pull in new customers who might not have the courage to bet high amounts on the high risk games.
Over the years, however, there have been gradual adjustments to the layout of casinos. Old time fans of Las Vegas might recall some keno areas, for example, at the original MGM grand before the fire in 1980. The keno section had these tiered seats assigned, and a number of writers in charge of managing the game.
Players will select their numbers, surrender their tickets and their amounts to the writers, and await the next draw. This event was operated with quite a number of staff needed but was only able to function as long as there were adequate employees. The large Keno section was gone when MGM Grand reopened the same in 1981, and the Keno game had been transferred to limited square footage.
These kinds of games are labor-intensive and friendly to players, which are for some reasons, always tough for the casinos to handle. For example, the 3:2 blackjack single-deck game had a big edge for its players but hardly covered labor costs. If a table had six players, there would still be a loss owing to the dealer’s wages charged on an hourly basis.
Nevertheless, an evolution of the live movement in this sense is doing away with this. With this technology, one dealer can play multiple gamers making the low margin games feasible. Instead of expensive losses being made with only a few players, these games are able to achieve their operational costs with the addition of more players.
