Starting today, two new side bet options for live-table Baccarat are available. These bets are called “Lucky 7” and “Super Lucky 7.” The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, also known as DICJ, approved these options. According to industry sources, these new betting options are likely to increase casino revenue in Macau. Their introduction comes just in time for the National Day Golden Week, which begins today. This timing may help attract more players to the gaming tables during this busy holiday period.
The Bigger Picture
The recent approval of the new side bets reflects the city’s gambling regulator’s decision to allow the Lucky Six (Small 6/Big 6) bet in late April. This approval came just before the May Day Golden Week. In May, Macau saw its highest monthly gross gaming revenue since the COVID pandemic, reaching MOP 20.19 billion (USD 2.53 billion).
Among the new bets, the “Super Lucky 7” offers the highest payout at 100 to 1. This payout occurs when a winning player hand scores seven points, defeating a banker hand that scores six points. Each hand consists of three cards. Gaming news outlet GGR Asia reported that the regulator had approved these options. Casino operators are hopeful they will be available for the October Golden Week. Baccarat remains the most popular table game in Macau. It accounted for 85 percent of the region’s total gross revenue in the second quarter of 2024.
