Sky Bet has partnered with York Racecourse to host the Sky Bet Ebor Festival charity event. Charities and local groups have until July 31 to enter. From these, 22 will be selected and paired with a runner in the race. A live TV draw on August 22 will determine which charity is matched with which horse, with the race scheduled for August 24.
Prize Distribution
The financial support for participating charities is linked to the horses’ finishing positions. The charity associated with the winning horse will receive £20,000 ($26,000), while the second and third places earn £5,000 and £2,000, respectively. All other participating charities will receive £1,000 each.
Impact from Last Year
The previous year’s event saw Frankie Dettori ride Absurde to victory, winning £20,000 for Sheffield Voices. This funding significantly supported their self-advocacy project for young people, helping them to voice their needs and make meaningful changes.
Encouragement for Participation
Sky Bet emphasizes the event’s dual benefit: offering vital financial support and highlighting the valuable work of local charities. The company encourages all eligible Yorkshire-based charities to apply and join the exciting event.
